Salesforce Certified Administrator

Odds are if you ended up on this page it’s becauseyou’re interested in my work as a photographer and videographer. I still shoot and edit photos and videos, but since 2020 I’ve been working as a Salesforce Administrator during the work week. If you’re looking for a Salesforce Administrator check out my Trailblazer Profile and then send me an email.

Some of My Favorite Photographs

This is a mixture of photos that I shot both while working and also in my own free time. If you want to see more of my professional work, that can be found at Van Elk & Co. My wife and I run that company together. We mostly capture weddings and events, but we also do headshots, portraits, food, architecture, and commercial work. If you want to see more of my personal work you can work head over to my Unsplash account. It’s mostly drone photos because that’s my favorite thing to shoot in my spare time.

Some of My Favorite Videos

Villages Youth and Family Services

This is one of my favorite videos I ever made. I shot and edited this video while working for Big Burrito Creative. My friend, Dustin, and I flew to Sierra Leone to do photo and video work for one of Dustin’s non-profit clients. We spent a week traveling through the country and capturing everything we saw there. It was an amazing experience.

Scarlet Lane Brewing company

This behind the scenes brewing video was a dream come true for me. I have loved Scarlet Lane ever since I first tried their braggot, Eirik Bloodaxe. I thought it was the best beer (technically a mead) I had ever tasted and that holds true to this day. I absolutely loved capturing this video and editing it, because it was peek behind the curtain at something I love.

Pattern Magazine Launch Party

Pattern Magazine is an amazing and uniquely Indy product. It features creatives and artists in the Indy area and their work. I was super fortunate to be hired to shoot and edit this video celebrating the launch of their 12th volume of the magazine. It was a fantastic night.

My Podcasts

I co-hosted, produced, and edited the Wedding Photo Hangover since its creation. I co-host the show with my friend Dustin, and we talk about news and issues that are important to wedding photographers. Let me just be honest, mostly we share hilariously bad advice and tell jokes about current events in the photography world. If you want to check out more you can listen to the most recent episode below or you can head over to the show’s website to listen to an episode or read the associated blog.

I also co-hosted, produced, and edited the Wedded podcast. Wedded was a podcast about wedding planning and helping couples get ready for their wedding day that I co-hosted with my wife, Jenn. We had special guests from all over the world on the show to talk about their areas of expertise. You can listen to the last episode below or visit the show’s website to find more info.

In addition to these podcasts, I also hosted, produced, and edited a Patreon exclusive show for patrons of the podcasts called “Steve and Dustin Save the World”. This was a weekly show that often had guests and which ran for three years. Additionally, I’ve also been a guest on a number of podcasts. You can find a list of my credited guest appearances on Podchaser.

About Me

I wasn’t always a photographer. I fell in love with someone, Jenn, and her passion for photography quickly ensnared me. Since 2010, I've been shooting buildings, products, portraits, events, and weddings, and I still get excited before every shoot.

My wife, Jenn, and I are both adventurers. We run a few businesses together and have three beautiful children. We love trying new restaurants and breweries. Although we enjoy a night out when we can take them, some of our favorite moments are taking walks with our children or cuddling up on the couch watching a comedy.

I love to hike, and thankfully Indiana has a lot of parks with great hiking. Jenn and I love taking the kids on adventures with us through the woods and to lakes and waterfalls. I also love going to festivals with my wife and kids. To be fair, it’s my wife that really loves festivals, but I love going because I love the way she lights up at events. Also I love celebrating the holidays with the kids. Below there is a gallery of family photos from hiking, festivals and holiday celebrations. Most of them were taken by Jenn and me, but the ones of Jenn and me together at Joshua Tree were taken by our friends Ulices and Maria of Del Toro Media.
